About Engineering Excellence
Engineering Excellence is a Pretoria-based tutoring company founded in September 2025 by Giduan Coetzer and Eduan du Plessis. We provide personalised tutoring for Grade 6–11 learners across every school subject, with a strong focus on Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Physical Sciences.
Learners can attend individual or small-group lessons in Afrikaans or English. We support both CAPS and IEB curricula through regular tutoring, homework and assignment support, and focused preparation for tests and exams. Lessons are available in person across greater Pretoria or online anywhere in South Africa.
Meet the founders
Engineering Excellence is led by co-founders Giduan Coetzer and Eduan du Plessis. Their engineering backgrounds bring a structured, practical approach to learning and problem-solving, while their shared commitment to learner development keeps the business personal and supportive.

Why Engineering Excellence exists
Engineering Excellence started after Giduan and Eduan repeatedly heard parents describe tutoring experiences where their children felt like just another number. They wanted to build a tutoring service where every learner is known, carefully matched with the right tutor and supported as an individual.
Our purpose is simple: to help learners grow in confidence and understanding through focused guidance from tutors who genuinely care about their progress.

Afrikaans or English, your child’s choice
Every learner chooses their own preferred language of instruction, and we match them with a tutor who teaches comfortably in it. Where suitable resources are available, notes and worksheets can be provided in Afrikaans or English too, so your child works in the language they think in.

Full lessons in English, including for learners in Afrikaans schools who write their assessments in English or plan to study in English.
Around 20 screened tutors
Most of our tutors are university engineering students, graduates, or subject specialists with strong academic backgrounds, many of them from the University of Pretoria. Every tutor must have completed at least one university semester involving the subject they teach, and we also consider school results, university academic records, subject knowledge, communication skills, and previous tutoring experience.

Individual tutor profiles will be added once tutors have given written permission for their names, photographs, qualifications, and biographies to be published.
Progress you can see
We track learner progress and give parents feedback. Our goal is not only better marks. We also build understanding, confidence, study habits, and independent problem-solving. One learner improved by 25 percentage points within two weeks of focused support. That is an individual example: results differ between learners and depend on attendance, effort, lesson frequency, existing knowledge, and participation.
